Cannabis has four main cannabinod groups that are found naturally inside the cannabis plant during its growth. There is also a fifth group of cannabinods that needs to be discussed as well but is usually found after harvest.
CBN also known as it scientific name cannabinol and it is a byproduct of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol(THC) when it goes through oxidation. This often can be found in cannabis that has not been stored well or in very old samples. CBN can also be found inside cannabis resign and oil as well. High temperatures can also convert THC into CBN.
Alone CBN is not psychoactive but can have a sedative effect when used with THC. Recent studies have also shown that CBN can be used to treat burns as it reduces thermal sensitivity.
